The George Hotel

The George Hotel was a half-timbered, Wealden style Inn in Middle Street, Yeovil. This was built in the 1400s as a private house for a local merchant and became the Three Cups Inn in 1642 and the George Hotel in the 1800s.

The George Inn projected out into Middle Street. Following a fatal pedestrian accident, the Inn was knocked down in 1962 to widen the road. Middle Street was pedestrianised in 1971.
